Each fall, Entrepreneur magazine ranks the top 150 franchises that support U.S. Military Veterans, and this year Captain D’s franchise moved up in the “Best for Vets” issue to 15th. That’s a full seven spots up from last year’s 22nd place ranking.

Because roughly 14% of the industry’s Franchise Owners are Military Veterans—who make up about 7% of the total U.S. population—the ranking is particularly significant. Take Multi-Unit Franchise Operator Lester Nowell, a Vietnam War Army Veteran and owner of five Captain D’s seafood restaurants throughout the greater Colorado Springs region. “The success I’ve experienced since opening my first location in the 1980s is a true testament to the unparalleled support Captain D’s offers its Franchise Owners,” Nowell says.
“Since joining Captain D’s more than three decades ago,” he adds, “I’ve witnessed first-hand how the brand has continually invested in its people, product, and processes, fueling its evolution over the years into the fast-casual powerhouse it is today.”
